Software Development Engineer Lead

Remote, Chicago or Seattle

Contract to full time placement at client

About the Role

We help our billion-dollar client explore, design, build and refine amazing products for their passionate customers. We offer a unique try-before-you-buy opportunity to start contract and then join our client full time. You get a chance to work with the team, ramp up on their business and customers and they get a chance to get to know you and see the impact you can have. We’re looking for an experienced software and services professional to lead our engineering efforts. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented engineers by overseeing our current portfolio and helping shape our future experiences and services. We’re growing fast and need a leader who can has experience building great teams and scaling experiences and services to millions of customers. You should enjoy mentoring/coaching engineers to be their best, working hard problems of all sizes and be adept at working as part of a cross-functional, diverse and distributed team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers to build scalable experiences and services

  • Mentor and grow engineers of varying time in career

  • Responsible for delivering solutions on schedule, at quality

  • Lead architecture, technical design, code reviews and team meetings

  • Collaborate with product and design leaders to influence strategy and roadmap

  • Effectively manage a diverse and distributed team of full-time and contract engineers

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximize team effectiveness

  • Provide technical guidance and best practices for team

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent AND ten (10) years of software development experience developing, maintaining, and managing services and client experiences

  • 10+ years of people management experience – building/leading diverse, inclusive and high-functioning teams of varying career stages

  • 10+ years shipping software products and services in Python, C++, Java, C# or similar programming languages

Preferred:

  • Experience creating scalable solutions using Azure, AWS or Google Cloud

  • Experience in mobile, desktop and web client user experiences

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar game engine

  • Experience with cross-platform development

  • Experience leading and participating in code reviews

  • Experience with Git, or similar source code management system

  • Experience using task management software

  • Experience developing video games or casino style games

  • Experience in build automation and/or continuous integration/delivery

  • Experience driving decisions using data

  • Experience in experimentation

  • Experience communicating project requirements verbally and through written documentation

  • Willing to travel and participate in training and meetings as needed
